We first heard about Lights of Tejas through a Facebook post in 2012. Our family had just moved to the area and a “Family Christmas Light Festival” sounded like fun. After the beautiful drive through the country in Giddings, we arrived and were not disappointed with anything! From the first person we came in contact with at the gate we could tell this was going to be something different. The people greeted us with a smile and treated us like family. They explained everything Lights of Tejas had to offer and the extremely low cost gave me a big smile also. As we walked from the entrance through the Light Tunnel our hearts were warmed with Christmas spirit. Everyone kept a smile on their face the entire night and we had a lot of fun with all the activities.

Speaking of activities, our family favorite is the zip lines! There are two; a full size (if you are brave enough), and a kid size for the little ones. There are many other wonderful things to enjoy at Lights of Tejas, such as; a bounce house, face painting, climbing wall, and lots of midway games. This year there is a brand new indoor light show with nearly a hundred thousand lights and music and video. We like to end our night by roasting marshmallows around the campfire and making s’mores and watching the Winter Wonderland lights on the lake.

We come back every year and now bring family from out of town to enjoy the experience with us. Last year we rented two cabins at Tejas and invited some family to stay. The accommodations were more than what we expected. We had everthing we needed without the distraction of TV or electronics. The setting on the lake was beautiful and the breakfast in the morning was the icing on the cake. The entire family talks about Lights of Tejas all year and counts down the days till we go again. I would encourage everyone, no matter their age, to go and experience this festival. You will be glad you did.
