We are past the halfway point in raising money for the new coffee shop. We have had more volunteers come partner with us this spring than ever before. It is amazing to see God answer the prayers of Tejas staff and guests by providing exactly what we need. C.S. Lewis said, “I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time – waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God – it changes me.”

Our program staff prays heavily for the Summer Ministry Team. Specifically that God would bring servant-minded guys and girls to Tejas for the summer. Once a student is hired, the staff continues to pray for them leading up to the summer, that God would prepare them for what is to come. He has answered this prayer again and again, each summer putting together an amazing team that grows together and glorifies Him.

Our maintenance staff prays for the safety of our volunteers who come to serve on work projects. Mike Newton expressed that in the 6 years of his time on staff, no one has been injured while working on a project. God has continued to bless Tejas and those who choose to volunteer while we work on big projects like the Dining Hall, the Motel, and the Game Room.

Our retreat staff receives specific prayer requests from guest group leaders each week. One of our interns, Lindy, shared her experience praying for the students in a youth group, that they would be able to build community: “The last night they were here I was in their conference room refilling water coolers and I got to catch a little bit of a student’s testimony about what he had experienced that weekend. He went from not knowing very many people to knowing that he had a family with the new community of students. He recognized that the community was a result of God hard at work and was overwhelmed by the blessing of being well received by the rest of the students.” Please pray with us, that God will continue to reach people here at Tejas!
