Feeling out of Place… Jesus doesn’t think so.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8

Ever felt out of place? There was a time I was on the road and needed a break. I stopped in a fast food restaurant to use the facilities and on my way out, a woman was coming in!!!! Oh boy, I made a huge mistake and went in the wrong door! I felt out of place for sure and quite embarrassed. If you have ever made the same mistake, you know the feeling.

This past weekend we had the joy of hosting a women’s retreat, and again, I felt out of place. Everywhere I looked, there were ladies. Where were the guys? Even in the dining hall, I felt awkward getting a quick bite to eat in the midst of serving the group. Yet, the cool thing is that God had a purpose and reason for me to be there. According to Him, I was not out of place.

I have chosen to follow Jesus and seek His ways. He gives me counsel and instruction. With that belief, I know that even if I feel out of place, it is for His glory. Do I get distracted and step out of his will? Maybe even constantly? Sure, but our Lord is loving. If we are seeking Him, He leads us back on track.

So yes, I might have felt awkward, but I knew I was where I should be and loved hearing the stories of ladies building friendships, taking time to walk with the Lord and singing praises of His glory. That is why we set the stage for Jesus to transform lives. Sometimes I might feel awkward, but that is okay if I know it means Jesus is transforming lives.
