WARNING: Do not read further if you don’t want to know how to be a part of Jesus at work

I remember the day back in March when I sat in our dining hall all alone and lost. I did not understand why Jesus led us to build a big space for people to gather and then take away that opportunity to serve. We could seat over 600 and yet I was the only one there. Was this building not his leading and just my desire?

Many of you may have had some of those same type of thoughts this year. Yet, last night I saw Jesus at work in this grand space. College students who have not had the opportunity to gather these last few months, were standing there praising Jesus and talking about a bright future sharing the Gospel no matter the circumstances around us.

They could do this because they felt comfortable gathering in the large space that could seat many more but allowed some distance for praise and worship as a smaller community! Again, Jesus knows what He is doing. He knows what will be needed in the future and how Tejas was going to be used.

We could not have done any of this without the hundreds of financial donors, thousands of volunteer hours and so many gifts in kind. So in our down time we have been planning and working towards finishing up other projects and preparing a place for people to gather and praise Jesus.

We need financial help getting this done. Will you begin to pray through how Jesus will use your talents and provision to keep ministry moving forward at Tejas? It reminds me of the story of Esther and Mordecai in the Bible.

“Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: ‘Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?‘” Esther 4:13-14

We have volunteers arriving in January to help with the projects and we need the funds to purchase supplies and feed them while they are with us. Our bold goal is to raise $25,000 by the end of the year.

Please consider giving to allow this cycle to continue and so that we can praise Jesus together through our commitment to the mission of setting the stage for Jesus to transform lives.
